I have a day-long meeting near Portland and need a companion care provider experience for my husband in his early 70s. He is mobile, engaged, and likes to weave jokes and trivia into conversation. Although he is fine with all daily living activities, he has mild cognitive impairment, so he needs prompting to take his essential medication (9:30 am) and sometimes needs reminders to eat and drink water. He has food he can prepare himself, but I would feel a lot better if I knew someone was making sure the stove/oven were off after cooking! When he is home, he tends to watch tv - nature shows, sports, history, game shows. Having someone to provide companionship and social interaction is helpful. He may also nap some. Preferences for a caregiver who is a non-smoker, comfortable with a dog and cat, and CPR / first-aid trained.
