Seeking Full-time Senior Care Provider In Edmond

About who needs care: Mom had a stroke in August. It affected her left side. Her arm has little function. Her left leg is weaker than normal but works. She has limited mobility to walk to the bathroom with a hemiwalker and belt. We have hand rails in the bathroom and a frame over the toilet. She needs help taking pants down and wiping. She has an aspiration and swallow concern so eating and drinking need to be monitored. Before the stroke she had some white matter disease developing (like dementia) which has minimized executive function for intellectual initiative and following instructions. She uses a wheelchair and can crab walk and use her right arm but will need to be pushed. She enjoyed the yard but can't do that now. She enjoys being outside. She will watch TV but gets drowsy so isn't very engaged with that. There are exercises (speech, PT, puzzles) that could be used to fill the time. We are looking for relief for the primary care giver (son) for a few hours at a time, at least. We know the range of help may be people comfortable with basic care (eating, drinking, repositioning in chair) to people comfortable with transfers and the bathroom. We have limited help now so we are open to a range of helpers to fill out different needs. Mom is accommodating and pleasant. Her default in life has been as a care giver so this is a new role for her. About the care needs: It goes without saying we need compassion and patience. Mom will need reminders foe how to do procedures because of her short term memory issues. Specialized skills could include experience with transfers. Comfort with bathroom procedures. Openness to learning basic physical and speech therapies. We may not find one person to do all of this but these are a range of some skills applicants might have or be willing to learn. Definitely no use of vapes in the house. No Marijuana during the work hours. Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
