About who needs care: -Pretty well managed congestive heart failure. Hard of hearing but doesn't always wear hearing aids (blasts TV. Looking into bluetooth headphones.). Has trouble with close vision. Corrective lenses for 20/70 distance. In hospital recovering from RSV, will be released to rehab for a week or so soon. Relies on a walker for stability. Has them basement, first and second floors. Independently uses chair lift for first to second floor. Takes own blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen readying daily, but may need reminders. Uses padded underwear daily and adult incontinence briefs on outings or Lasix days. -Guardian Baseball, reading, certain television shows, loves her two cats. Like computer games - solitaire, bridge (?), and candy crush or something like it. Occasionally on social media and email. A retired nurse. -Daily/weekly/biweekly structure - not exactly certain yet but mostly keeps to a routine, especially with feeding her cats. Sleeps until around 9AM. Coffee and juice with cereal, toast, fried or hardboiled egg. Hair appt in downtown Wadsworth late morning every other Thursday. Fiercely independent. Camomile tea in evening, night-owl (11-12PM), up to use restroom 1-2 times during the night, and may sleep late. If feeling well, likes to go grocery shopping and other errands (bank, pharmacy, out to lunch), supports self with cart or uses store electric chair. Has a list but likes to go down about every aisle. Says moving and caring for her cats keeps her going. Has cleaner she's known for more than two decades come every other Tuesday morning. Not sure if he changes out litterbox or someone else keeps up with it. Really would prefer her not cleaning (once daily) or changing litter (biweekly) - baseline. She wants to do laundry herself but again, it's in baseline and straightforward. She has one setting for washer and dryer and doesn't generally have large loads. If she allowed help - bring down from hamper in upstairs bathroom, wash, dry, fold and leave on her bed to put away. Neighbor tends to put out/in garbage and recycling from garage weekly. She has a space to keep recycling in the kitchen. About the care needs: -Not sure. Someone who is calm, not too fussy. Asks, rather than tells. "Is there anything you'd like to do today or have done." She keeps a pretty good calendar (want to get a larger one). Call comes in and she doesn't seem like she can get to it. Ask, "would you like me to answer." Sometimes she lets it go to vm (screens) and then answers the call. Landline but has two wireless extensions. Will express something more negative and then turn on a dime and defend the situation or person. Her memory is pretty good for 100. She naps some. -Skills. A good, gentle communicator - Ask, "how do you feel about...?". Computer/internet-savvy enough if she's having trouble. Keeping an eye on expired food in the fridge or overloaded freezer. Sensitive about throwing anything out. Says it's still good. Has to be her decision. Sometimes if you ask about a particular item, she'll agree. Watch sodium levels if she doesn't notice. Pretty good about keeping them low. Otherwise, her ankles will swell. -Baseball (She knows most all the players, their stats and history. Not just the Guardians.). Must love animals and treat them like family. Looking at old photos. Taking care of her house plants and garden. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
