About the job
About who needs care: She is in Hospice Pallative Care for throat and tongue cancer. She feeds herself but has to be very careful that food is soft or cut up small. She is mobile but a little unsteady caused by meds at times or not taking them on time. She has a walker. She needs to be reminded of when to take her meds timely. She insists on still smoking. Sometimes she sleeps thru and misses meds on schedule. She is sleeping more now on her couch. She uses oxygen intermittenly as needed. Her hobbies are reading where the library drops off books at her home to read for her. She likes doing lite baking and cooking some times. She has Meals on Wheels too. She likes getting on her computer and watching tv. She is hard of hearing. The meds or missing doses does cause some confusion. She can take meds herself but needs reminders when to take them. Hospice provides some help in Nurse visits, social worker visits, bathing, cleaning and meds. She has fentanyl patches they change every 3 days. She likes to eat early and go to bed around 7:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. She loves her cat. About the care needs: One with a good, friendly, compassionate and helpful personality. Someone who is understanding of her possible intermittent confusion and not take what she might say in that confusion personally. The meds or missed dosages can cause that but is rectified when she takes meds timely and rests well. She of course has moments of a little emotional in crying at times because she is facing death in a few months. So we need someone empathetic of this, a good listener and understanding.
