About the job
About who needs care: Mom mostly likes to watch TV at night. She is a little picky, but would likely be ok if she gets to talk with the carer. We rarely go out, and feel like we can't because we are afraid she will wander and fall. It's been almost 4 years and my husband and I need short, periodic breaks to recharge. I hope we can find a compassionate carer who will be ok with staying with her for a few evening hours on occasion. About the care needs: Mom is 90. She can be ornery and grouchy, but she is also very childlike, especially in the evening. She requires someone who is patient but calm and firm. She can't perform simple commands at times, and seems to do things out of spite when really She just doesn't understand. The person who cares for her needs to get her attention and focus even on simple things like bathroom going and where her room is. They should also be ok with dogs. We have 3. 2 are pretty calm but all will bark at the beginning. The newest one is tiny and skittish. If needed, we will put them in a bedroom, but Mom is pretty bonded with our oldest dog and she with Mom. Services needed include: companionship.
