About who needs care: Looking for help for my elderly parents. Driving to doctor appointments, just being present around the house during the mornings or afternoons depending on their appointments and desired activities which are mainly going to the grocery store, post office, possibly the race track and of course medical appointments. My mother is younger than my dad but sill late 80's so they are not up on technology and they simply do not have help unless critical. They are very independent but should not be driving. Most of the time they sleep or watch TV, mess around on the computer, etc. They are hesitant to call friends who can help as with a lot of elderly people they do not want to be a burden. The doctor has instated in-home care that comes by several times a week to check blood pressure etc. Dad will also be starting physical therapy in the home. However he has suffered falls and therefore I am looking for someone to essentially just "be there" to help with the things I would do if I lived in the same state full time. The schedule would be flexible - could be managed weekly - for example if they know they have a Doctor's appointment on specific dates - or even as simple as checking the weather as they may be more inclined to want to 'get out of the house' aka run errands - but they should absolutely not be driving and when outside of the house, my dad could absolutely use someone to help with his walker or cane and just assisting with him walking/ getting in and out of the car etc. Thank you! About the care needs: Someone easy going. My dad is a bit of a jokester. Just friendly and patient. Services needed include: transportation, and mobility assistance.
