About who needs care: My father is in hospice care. He has metastatic renal cancer that has spread to his brain, liver, lungs, and abdomen. This has had several effects but have now resulted in him barely being able to speak due to very labored breathing. He is also dependent on oxygen through a cannula. My father is a calm and funny person. He loves chocolate- specifically a chocolate shake from White Castle. He was an architect before his disease forced him into retirement. He loves my mom, his wife of 25 years. He also cares deeply for my two older half-siblings and I. An ideal day at the moment is providing as much comfort and care as possible. My father only has a handful of days to live and we would like those days to be as comfortable as possible, in our home rather than a hospital. We also need a caretaker who is comfortable administering morphine to him regularly and can administer his nebulizer. About the care needs: We are looking for someone with a calm, comforting, and attentive personality. This caretaker must be empathetic and ideally has worked in hospice care before. We need someone who is not too touchy and will ask my father for permission before moving him. This person will need to administer morphine. This is crucial as he might be receiving it hourly in its liquid form, and we cannot stay up through the night to give it to him. Experience with a nebulizer is also a plus. No specific hobbies necessary. English/Spanish bilingual a plus but not required. Services needed include: companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
