About who needs care: My mother has just been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and suffers from anxiety. She lives with my dad and we are looking for someone to help give structure to her day, keep an eye on her wellbeing, provide socialization, help with light housekeeping, and periodically assist with transportation. More about her: She immigrated to the US from the Philippines in her 20's, has 2 cats, likes to play piano and sew. About the care needs: We would love to be matched with someone who is patient and emotionally intelligent, someone who is sensitive to patients with trauma and cultural/religious differences. A good conversationalist, optimistic and diplomatic. Ideally experience working with dementia/Alzheimer's and sensitive around issues of substance abuse and recovery. An interest in cooking and cats could also go a long way in finding things in common. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, and mobility assistance.
