About who needs care: My mother (87) and father (92) live together. My mother is beginning to lose her memory and has difficulty walking and getting dressed sometimes. My father is still capable (in fact he goes bowling once a week), but needed to care for my mother is starting to be too much to handle and he doesn't have the temperament to deal with her memory issues. I live 3 hours away and can't be there for them all the time. Ideally a care provider would help my mother get dressed for the day, take her for a brief walk or other exercise to keep her mobile, help my dad with simple chores or provide transportation to stores or doctors (he can drive but probably shouldn't), and then leave them in the late afternoon. About the care needs: Somebody that's a good peacemaker but is also able to keep my mother motivated to be active. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
