I'm looking for someone to be a bit of a companion and advocate for my mom who is 68, cognitively on her game and in good health with the exception of kidney disease. Shes funny, kind, and walks on her own. She even drives though I would prefer she didn't :). She grew up in Brooklyn but has lived in Staten Island for the last 40+ years. She worked as a legal secretary and went back to school to become a licensed clinical social worker. She's able to take of herself but will now have to go to dialysis 2 to 3 times a week. I have 3 kids work full time and live 1. 5 hours away so won't be able to come all the time. I'm looking for someone who can accompany her to dialysis treatment, help make sure the stuff we set up in her apartment like the cable and food deliveries are there, help if she needs to have a prescription picked up. Occasionally maybe cook her a meal if she's tired after the treatment. She also is in a social group so someone that could help her prep to have her friend over would be nice. What I am looking for is someone to do the things I would do as her daughter if I were there, in terms of helping her but not do medical or physical care.
