My mother has suffered traumatic brain injury due to brain surgery & Hydrocephalus. She is mentally OK in terms of communicating, understanding, etc., but her short-term memory is not very strong. She does have issues with bladder control/incontinence - a side effect of Hydrocephalus - & wears adult diapers. Her mornings are the toughest & when she is the most confused, which is when we need the most help. As the day progresses, she does gain clarity back. My husband/I have moved home to help my father, but work full-time. We have assistance from a friend MonWedFri, & she is working with an OT, PT, & Speech Therapist, which helps her more & more each day. We are looking for someone to come on Tues&Thurs to help her wake up, go to the bathroom/change diaper, shower, change, serve breakfast/lunch, take meds, & keep her morning active.
