About who needs care: My mother has advanced Parkinsons and is bed-bound. She needs help with transfers, dressing, bathing, and eating. She is on a pureed diet, and my father prepares her food. He lives with her, but transfers, dressing, etc., is a two-person job, and he needs assistance while my sister and I are away. My mother does not talk much, mostly one-word answers. She spends her day listening to audiobooks and resting. Around noon, we get her up, take her to the bathroom, do a sponge clean, and get her dressed. Then, take her to her chair for breakfast. After breakfast, she listens to her book, and periodically, we give her water and a snack if she is hungry. Her chair is a tilt-in-space wheelchair, so we will change the angle to relieve pressure. She has a nurse who comes in the evening to help with dinner and the bedtime routine. About the care needs: We are looking for someone to help with lifting, bathing, and dressing. My mother does not need conversation or stimulation, so someone who can read their book, play on their phone, etc. You don't need to do any household chores. Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
