About who needs care: My mother has memory issues, steady decline. Needs help bathing and with hygiene. Also companionship, light household chores, and local transport (medicine, groceries, etc.). My mother lives with my father who is 79, though doesn't need assistance for himself. There is a small dog at the house who is friendly. She enjoys talking about family and talking about photos and memories. She has a hard time finishing sentences but can still remain coherent for spells at a time. Any assistance for helping her cognitive abilities will be welcome such as doing puzzles or helping remember certain activities like brushing teeth or remembering to eat. My father likes to take her to the local casino and they will play Buffalo slots for a few hours a day. Other than that, they mostly stay home and watch TV and sometimes go out for drives. About the care needs: Need someone skilled with memory disabled seniors, with lots of patience and understanding on how to handle them. My mother is kind but can be emotionally distraught at times due to her condition, but she is never violent or anything. So special care would be needed to deal with sudden mood swings and all. Also, a calm demeanor is requested. Anyone who can fit this criteria would be a good fit. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
