Hands-on Care Needed For My Mother In Sussex

About who needs care: My Mom is recovering from a recent above the knee amputation of her left leg, due to a blood clot. She has transitioned from a rehabilitation center whet she received PT and OT, to home where she currently receives Visiting Nurse OT and PT until she can continue therapy on an out patient basis. She is currently using a wheelchair. The long term goal is for her to be fitted with a prosthetic. She does have some slight cognitive decline. My Mom has always enjoyed cooking, and light gardening, among other things. An ideal day would see her out of bed by 8:30-9:00, washed up and dressed and down for breakfast by 10:00. An aide would hopefully be able to work with her to do her physical therapy exercises more consistently. Hopefully, an aide would be able to engage in conversation with her, about movies, music, travel, life in general. With the coming spring weather, it would be great to have an aide take her out onto their back deck where there are shelves at heights that would be at a level appropriate for someone in a wheelchair, so that she could pot up herbs and veggies, and some flowers. The aide help would also make sure that Mom would receive lunch at an appropriate time. My father would be able to handle Dinner and the evening. About the care needs: Despite having some cognitive decline, my Mom is a very intelligent woman who worked her way up from an entry clerical position, to the Executive Vice President of Human Resources by the time she retired, all without a college degree. She has had several other health issues throughout the years, and fought through every one of those. So while an elderly, somewhat diminished woman would appear before you, deep down inside there is still the tough, fierce, funny, whip smart woman we have always known. So, good personality traits would include someone with humor and warmth, and who is a good conversationalist. She is in a wheelchair and needs some assistance doing board transfers, while we work with her to become more independent. She does like to cook, and if we can provide the over stove mirror, it would be nice to see her do some easier cooking. Likewise, it would be good for her to do some gardening on the deck. Services needed include: companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
