Weekend Caregiver For 62 Year Old Mother With Alzheimer's And Dementia.

An ideal day for my mom would include taking her vitamins and prescribed medication first thing in the morning right before breakfast. She has high blood pressure and is pre diabetic so I'm careful with what I give her. She loves dancing and listening to music, she also loves watching videos of cats. She has quite a lot of energy so she paces around the house a lot looking for things to rearrange. She doesn't do word searches or puzzles much anymore but she did love them. I try to do arm exercises with her because she has a stiff right shoulder that bothers her in her sleep. She trips very easily so when we go on walks we walk very slowly even though she loves pulling me to walk faster lol She gets frustrated easily but she's a very sweet lady, she loves cuddling and staying close to people. She tries to take naps throughout the day but she gets distracted easily. She'll nap if it's very quiet though or if there's quiet music in the background. She doesn't speak much english anymore, she stutters a lot now but understands what you're telling her for the most part. She can understand a lot more in her language, Albanian but I understand that it would be difficult to find someone who speaks the language which is fine. She speaks more through gestures which I know will take some time to get used to. She doesn't wash herself anymore and she usually waits until the last minute to use the bathroom but you'll know when she needs to go. Overall I would just need someone who can show my mom friendliness, kindness, and care. I just turned 24, and I've been taking care of her for almost 4 years now. I've sacrificed jobs, school, and friends to care for my mom but I don't regret it at all. I love her and I want what's best for her.
