Hands-on Care Needed For My Mother In Hillsborough

About who needs care: Mom has Alzheimer's dementia. She was a church organist for many many years, played piano and loved to sing. She still enjoys music, especially show tunes, hymns and classical music. She mostly sits by the window and watches TV now - she used to read, do crosswords, watch birds, and be involved in volunteering with older people and at church, go to Bible Study, etc. She also played cards some, mostly being social. She can't really do those things any more. She does love animals, and has a small dog (chihuahua) and a cat. The dog sits in her lap most of the time. Her ideal day includes getting up on her own rather than being woken up, having toast and coffee, then dressing- though she needs lots of help with that now so many says does not get dressed or cleaned up. She would eat lunch, then maybe visit with a friend who came over, have dinner, watch TV and get ready for bed. Her doctor told her to be in bed by 7:30 or 8:00. About the care needs: Outgoing, friendly, gentle and sincere. Able to deal with dementia, take charge but not in a pushy way, knows how to talk with dementia patients (like "do you want chicken salad or tuna salad for lunch" not "what do you want for lunch today?" or not overexplaining things, just staying in the moment.) Deal with intimate tasks like bathing gently, giving Mom dignity and respect and also getting the job done - Mom is modest and private, so this is not always easy. Simple meal prep, cleaning a plus. My Dad is a typical white male of 91 years old - he tends to make innapropriate , sexist or off-color jokes , so someone who can ignore this and not take it personally. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
