About who needs care: A is my 85-year-old father who has recently exhibited signs of dementia (memory loss, wandering, sometimes hearing voices) but has not been diagnosed yet. He has been relatively fit and sharp the last few years, but mental decline is showing more seriously now. Needs help remembering to take his meds and someone to ensure he wander off (he didn't do this until recently after coming back from a trip that seemed to totally disorient him). He likes collecting art, watching sports, and has a long distance girlfriend he talks to most days. He does not much enjoy cooking or cleaning, so any help with that would be great. About the care needs: Someone patient who won't come across as too overbearing as our father likes his independence and will probably be in some denial about the care he currently requires. He can be stubborn but has always been comfortable living and working alone. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, and light housekeeping.
