About who needs care: My mom is a recent stroke victim, as of July 29th. She was released from Rehab Facility on November 13th, and she has been in our care at home since then. She has global aphasia and weakness on her right side (right arm and leg have little to no mobility). She is incontinent of urine, so we have been responsible for her bathing and toileting needs, along with making her meals, administering medications, etc. She has been retired from teaching for 2 years. She was completely independent with no medical issues before her stroke. She loves shopping, reading, and her grandson. An average day for her here at home is: Waking up around 8-9am, toileting, hygiene, medications, breakfast, possibly physical therapy, occupational, or speech therapy will come to our house for a session. Lunch around 12-1, toileting, possibly she will take a nap, medications around 3, transferring her from wheelchair to recliner, recliner to bed, etc. We use a device called a Vanturn to transfer her. Dinner around 530-630, toileting, transferring About the care needs: We would love a female caregiver if available, age should not be an issue. Someone upbeat, happy to be here, and positive, because that is exactly who my mom is! She has a great sense of humor despite everything and she loves to laugh. Bonus if they like reading and crime shows. Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
