About who needs care: He has Alzheimer's and zero short-term memory. He's generally gentle and agreeable, rests a lot in the afternoon, asks the same questions over and over, of course. He doesn't read anymore, can be entertained by TV sports, music, porch-sitting, "conversation," but no longer is a game player or puzzle solver. He has a heart condition and may or may not agree to a short walk--with a cane. He likes to point out natural objects, colors, etc. He's funny in a low-key way. Everyone likes him. About the care needs: I've never hired a caregiver and so have no idea of an "ideal" one. Someone easy-going and tolerant of conversations full of repetition who could tell him stories of their own life and experience would probably satisfy him. Services needed include: companionship.
