About who needs care: Bob has Parkinson's and is a stroke survivor (left-side hemi-paresis) who can only walk a couple of steps with assistance. He suffers from hemorrhoids and has bouts with severe back pain due to scoliosis. He takes Prilosec daily before breakfast because he suffers from esophageal spasms and Miralax mixed with OJ (as well as Meta-Mucil gummies) for breakfast because he has had life-long problems with constipation, which we have mitigated. He takes several medications daily, taken at various times--his "main medications" are taken at 8-12-4 and 8. He needs assistance with all ADL. He likes visiting YouTube on his computer; likes Sci-Fi, PBS documentaries, and movies. He and I do a crossword puzzle every morning with breakfast and watch Jeopardy every evening with dinner (or thereafter). Lately we have been going to bed between 8 and 9 p.m. because Bob gets too tired to move if we stay up any longer. Bob was a talented musician (guitar player, vocalist, and songwriter) who can no longer do music due to his physical limitations... He was also a a computer programmer/analyst who, due to Parkinson's, no longer has the mental acuity to deal effectively with computers above a basic level.... frustrating and sad for him. About the care needs: The ideal caregiver will be someone who is experienced with either care of stroke patients or care of Parkinson's patients (or both) and who is physically strong enough to assist Bob with transferring. Bob is a life-long Democrat who is very vocal about his dismay at the outcome of the recent presidential election and the resultant actions being taken by the current administration, so anyone who is a "MAGA" supporter would probably not be a comfortable fit, unless s/he has a high tolerance for someone disagreeing with his/her beliefs. Oh, and Bob loves to watch stand-up comedy by some comedians whose language is "salty," so if a caregiver would find that offensive, s/he might not want to be subjected to it. Services needed include: transportation, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
