About who needs care: My mom is 77 and some dementia. She is not a flight risk. My dad is about to be 81, has COPD, and is struggling to figure out how to use his new oxygen tank. They like to watch TV and go on short drives to a nearby lake to watch the birds and the people. They have a pretty set routine. Get up, my dad drive to restaurant to get breakfast, they watch TV, my dad goes to get my mom a taco from restaurant, they go for a drive, and then get food from another restaurant in town. About the care needs: I live about 3 hours away in SC and their neighbors have been having to come over when my dad can't figure out his new oxygen machine. Thats not fair to them, so I am looking for someone who can come in the morning, a few days a week for a couple of hours to get them started. My dad is a talker and has strong opinions. He has a little bit of dementia as well. My mom is sweet and also likes to talk. She used to like to read, but now mostly watches TV. She loves QVC. The only specialized care would really be technical. Someone who can turn on the oxygen machine. My dad forgets. He was able to use the original nebulizer he had but is struggling with a new device. I think once he has been taught repeatedly, it will sink in. Services needed include: transportation, and companionship.
