About who needs care: My mom Sally has moderate dementia and still lives at home with my dad Steve. They have a high maintenance dog and my dad takes him out for a walk/hike every afternoon. My mom isn't that sure-footed anymore and cant really keep up with them, so she needs someone to stay with her for a couple hours most days. She mostly needs a companion to keep her safe at home, and someone to talk with or walk around the campground . She might even just take a nap. She can play simple word games and likes to look at photos of cats and wildlife. If you happen to have a cat that travels well and could come with you, Mom would be over the moon! She wishes she could have her own cat. Sally is a very sweet and gentle soul. About the care needs: The ideal caregiver for Mom would be a patient woman who is familiar with dementia and doesn't mind answering the same questions over and over. A good storyteller would be a plus. Someone who loves nature and cats would be a great fit., too. There would be little or no need for help dressing/ bathrooming at this point, but that may increase with time. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
