About who needs care: She has cerebral palsy and currently has limited/low mobility. About a month ago she came down with the flu and has lost all of her strength. Currently she is in a nursing home and we are looking to possibly bring her home. She has spent her life as a librarian and she loves spending time at the senior center in our town. She has a beloved cat named Cricket. Currently she is very weak and will need assistance with most things (such as walking, transferring to wheelchair, dressing, going to the bathroom, bathing, etc.) We believe that she would be most comfortable at home and are looking into options of having around the clock care. About the care needs: We are looking for around the clock care. The caregiver must have a genuine respect for the patient and talk with her about things (not talk at her). Someone who is honest and trustworthy with solid references is a must. We are searching for a caregiver who knows how to care for someone who struggles with depression. The caregiver must be open to sparking and engaging in conversation with the patient. Must be able to lift patient for transferring to wheelchair and bathroom. if the caregiver is open to reading aloud to the patient that would be a bonus. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
