About who needs care: Mom has diabetes and mild cognitive impairment (short term memory loss). She likes to play Scrabble, Rummikub, Yahtzee, Mexican Train Dominoes and cards (rummy, pinochle, and solitaire). She puts together 100 to 300-piece puzzles, do word searches and crosswords, and craft projects. She can get out of bed, dress, bathe, and feed herself. But she needs someone to prompt her to do these activities and supervise her showering. She sometimes forgets to wash her hair! She does not cook, so it is usually sandwiches or frozen meals. She needs company. She lives alone and can no longer drive. She sleeps because she says she is bored. We have someone else that gets her out of the apartment 2 days a week. We would like someone that can be with her in her apartment for several hours the other 2 days for companionship and to oversee her other activities. An occasional walk outdoors would also do her good. About the care needs: A caring and friendly female. Age does not matter. The person would need to help her with lunch and making sure she drinks plenty of water. Someone who likes puzzles, board games, and cards would be helpful. Mom does not like taking a shower, so someone that can speak with authority or kindly persuade her to bathe would be good. Looking for someone that lives near her, in case there would be a need to check on her during emergency situations. Services needed include: companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
