About who needs care: He is 89, is ambulatory, lives alone in his own home on the west side of Ann Arbor. He is a World War II history buff. He feeds himself, uses the toilet. He has mild confusion and some medical issues that are being treated with medication. Family gives him his medication. Caregiver needs to provide companionship (like conversation, playing cards and games), make simple meals, wash the dishes, occasionally do a load of laundry. About the care needs: Caregiver should be cheerful and upbeat, encouraging, patient, and love working with seniors. Caregiver needs to be tolerant of someone who is forgetful and sometimes confused, who repeats himself and may ask the same questions repeatedly. It is a plus if the caregiver has CPR training or has worked in a nursing home. References are required from prior employers. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
