About who needs care: My father had a stroke in December 2023, leaving him with right sided weakness and little to no speech. Unfortunately, he fractured his hip a few days ago and is having a short rehab stay but upon returning home will need extra care. Before his hip fracture, he was working on physical therapy at home and getting up as much as possible. Once returning home, he will need to work even harder to maintain his strength and keep up with physical therapy and getting back into his old routine. He enjoys the outdoors and I would love to find somebody able to give him rides around town or take him to appointments as needed. My father is an easy-going guy and just needs help with day-to-day tasks and motivation to get up and work hard on therapy's. About the care needs: The ideal person would be laidback, but motivated to work one on one with him in therapies and helping him complete day-to-day tasks. This caregiver would benefit from having experience with stroke patients, but as long as they are dedicated and willing to learn how he best communicates his needs and gets around they would make a huge difference in his life. Someone that enjoys the outdoors and is a leader could help him get stronger and be able to stay in his home. Services needed include: transportation, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
