About who needs care: My mother-in-law recently fell and was hospitalized, but is fine to walk now. She also had pneumonia and from that is now not cognitively the same. She can no longer take care of herself. The major issue is a mental block and deep anxiety about walking and moving around. She is physically capable of walking and going up stairs but doesn't believe she can. Her husband no longer is able to drive or care for her in the way that she needs. We need someone to come in the morning for an hour or so to help her get dressed, help her bathe, and get ready for the day. We also need someone twice a week to come in for 3ish hours at a time. One day would be to drive my father in law to the grocery store, to pick up prescriptions, and go to the bank, or other errands. Having a car is super important. The other day would be to help with household needs, maybe some food prep, light tidying up (no deep cleaning) This job can be for two separate people, or the same person. About the care needs: We need someone who is patient, as this is our first go at this, and we still don't fully know what our father in law's needs are. We would learn together. A good, clean driving record is imperative. Someone with the patience and firmness to remind my mother in law that she can, in fact, get out of the bed, without doing every single thing for her. Previous elderly care is preferred. Because part of the job is to come only for an hour in the morning, (we can be flexible on this) it would be most convenient for someone who lived as close by as possible as to not waste your time. Simple food prep abilities, and a gentle, patient attitude is a must. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
