About who needs care: My dad has dementia. For the 10-2:00 shift he's usually dressed and needs to be taken to the gym in Portland. He uses a walker in our house and getting out of the house. From the car to the gym he uses a wheelchair. After the gym you eat lunch together at restaurant and then bring him back home. He needs a hand getting in and out of the car and wheelchair. For the evening shift - its at the home with dad and mom -they need help heating up dinner, and then help getting ready for bed - which entails - getting PJs on, taking pills, brushing teeth, going to bathroom - he does the pills and teeth and bathroom on his own but needs encouragement to do them. He needs help dressing. He is very forgetful, tells same stories,... he can be funny and silly and kind and tell stories of his life... and now also he can get agitated and worried and needs help distracting him from his worries.
