An ideal day would start with helping with breakfast in bed (not likely cooking). Emptying catheter bag. Dental care, getting his toothbrush and a cup with water so he can brush his teeth and giving him his denture cup and having him put his partial denture in. Then helping my dad out of bed using the walker and gait belt and on the bedside commode with assistance from my mother or myself. Then up to get incontinence cleanup and undergarment (diaper) changing and clothing changing. Then assistance with walking with walker or transport chair from bedroom to sunroom area. Positive reinforcement of PT exercises. Reminders for drinking water. On days where lunch time occurs then help with serving lunch. Help with TV remote. Help with bathing/skin moisturizing/hair care as needed. Helping him clean his hands with antibacterial wipes. Bathing once a week possibly with help. Housekeeping, as needed, such as dusting, vacuuming in the house. Wiping down surfaces in his room with sanitizing wipes. Taking out the trash to outside trash can. Cleaning bathrooms if needed. Kitchen cleanup. Making his bed and tidying up his room. Making sure all supplies are replenished. Changing sheets and helping with laundry. Loves music and history. We're looking for someone who has experience with caregiving for someone who is incontinent with a catheter (for now) or willing to learn. We prefer someone who is gentle but firm, compassionate and kind with a sense of humor. Father has vascular dementia with memory loss. You would need a car. No pets.
