About who needs care: My 89-year-old aunt who raised me like a mother is dying. She is incredibly hard of hearing, weak, fragile, and bed bound. She has been sleeping most of the day and experiencing memory impairment and confusion when awake for the last week or so. She needs oxygen but she has been experiencing delirium and removing the oxygen cannula she needs in order to breathe. Without it, her lips start to turn blue very quickly. My siblings and I have been trying our best to care for her but my I am disabled and cannot be there for more than about two hours a day because of severe fatigue and pain and my two siblings work full time and cannot take more time off without losing their jobs. They can each be there about 12 hours a day so we need someone who can be there for about 8 to 10 hours, from about 9 p.m. until 5 or 7 a.m. We love her dearly and want her to be as comfortable as possible until she passes. About the care needs: We are looking for someone who is kind, compassionate, and gentle to sit at her bedside while she sleeps and replace the oxygen cannula when she removes it. It would be wonderful if you have hospice/palliative care experience. Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
