About who needs care: My father suffers from a brain injury related to a stroke he had nearly 3 years ago. He is ambulatory and able to do basic tasks like brushing his teeth, going to the bathroom independently, and so forth, but he suffers from severe depression, alcoholism withdrawals, and a general lack of motivation. He would ideally need someone to prepare meals for him, take care of his laundry, and either complete or assist him with errands such as grocery shopping, doctor appointments, and so forth. He does not own a car and cannot drive due to the risk of a seizure occurring and triggering another stroke. He is on permanent disability currently and receives a monthly stipend, but does not work. He does not have many hobbies, but he enjoys watching sports and spending time with his family. About the care needs: My father is generally easygoing and amenable with others, so he can get along with a variety of individuals. He is very pragmatic and down-to-earth, and is also an immigrant from El Salvador, so there is a bit of a traditional, old-world mentality he exhibits from time to time. That being said, he is very open to working with people if they are capable and direct with assisting him. Again, he does not have many hobbies, but he generally gets along with people who are also interested in sports and have Latino backgrounds. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, and light housekeeping.
