About who needs care: Yes dementia needs assistance daily my mother is 94 and my father is 96. My father doesn't have any medical conditions preventing him from daily functions such as taking a shower, cooking, sitting by computer etc. my mother has severe mental dementia that prohibits her to function. She can walk with help of a walker however someone needs to be with her at all times. She sundowns at night, and wakes up frequently throughout the night 10-15 a night. She will absolutely get disoriented with anyone so the caregiver must have experience with dementia patients. About the care needs: Strong personality, with the knowledge of dealing with dementia. Skills- generalized nursing skills would be helpful, such as medication administration, transfers from bed to chair to bathroom etc. They both are Armenian so that would a plus if the caregiver has similar background. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
