About who needs care: My wife, Joan, is 76 years old and has a wide range of chronic health problems. She has peripheral neuropathy in her feet which is painful. It also means she does not get good information about where her feet are. She has a history of GI problems which can present themselves at any time. She had long Covid. She falls very frequently. About 18 months ago she developed a tremor in one hand. It became worse and we are seeing a neurologist at the Movement Disorders Center at UMass in Worcester. They have been helpful with her tremor but say it is hard to diagnose because she has symptoms of several neurologic disorders. She has used a rolator for the last year or so but now uses a wheelchair in the house. Our home is well equipped with grab bars and we have an elevator. We have an excellent aide who comes on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. We would like someone to come at least 3 other afternoons a week. We are looking for someone to help with general assistance and transfers. Joan will need some meals heated up and help with personal care. We are both retired professionals. We are looking for an exceptional aide and will compensate that person well. About the care needs: We are looking for someone empathetic, observant, tactful, patient and warm. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
