About who needs care: Dementia. Ambulatory, walks slowly with cane. Incontinence. Intermittent leg swelling from kidney issues and diabetes. Does not sleep on a regular schedule. Reading, gardening, sorting and organizing possessions. Have coffee and pastries, read newspaper, take a bath, go out for lunch, read or putter around or garden, have supper, retire for the night. About the care needs: Quiet (not a loud voice) and supportive, sunny disposition. Enjoys chatting and listening to real memories and to delusional memories. Patient about having to look for misplaced glasses all day long. Patient enough to deal with grumpy episodes. Basic cooking skills (coffee milk, fried egg sandwich, fresh salad, fried pork chop, baked potato) are important. She does not currently need assistance with bathing, though that may be necessary soon. An interest in gardening, local genealogy might be helpful. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
