About who needs care: Retired US AirForce pilot. Served from 1959 to 1979. Worked at as Technical Editor for 28 years after serving in USAF. Likes to read, watch TV, and time on computer. He really enjoys having someone to talk to, and for that someone to mostly listen. He gets confused if the person he is talking to gives too much feedback. Had a heart attack in 2008 and functioned well until 2022. Started having dizzy spells in 2022 caused by low heart rate and drop in blood pressure. Due to this dizziness which caused him to lose his balance, he has had several falls which put him in the hospital 2 or 3 times and recently in a skilled nursing rehab in an effort to help him regain his muscle strength and resume living at home. His cardiologist has sorted out the source of slow heart rate and low BP, and this problem is under control with new medication. Underlying conditions: hearing issue/wears hearing aids. Is in need of toileting help especially overnight. About the care needs: Ideal caregiver: Male in his 30s or 40s who has served in the military. Who is a good listener and is patient. That said, we are open to any caregiver who can be patient with Bob. Bob is the father of two daughters who he is very proud of and loves dearly. He has great regard for capable women. Specialized Skills: Bob is very smart. He cannot be forced to do something he does not want to do, but he can be encouraged to do it to help me (his wife and/or his girls). But, you can't be obvious about it. As I said he's smart. He knows when he's being manipulated. Services needed include: transportation, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
