About who needs care: My mother has lung cancer and is in hospice care. She is currently able to care for most of her own personal needs such as dressing, bathing, and fixing a light meal. She tires very easily and needs help with some light household chores such as laundry, doing dishes, taking her trash out, fixing a meal, emptying a bedside commode( if needed). She may also need someone to pick up groceries. She likes to play solitaire, watch sports, read, and watch game shows. Mom loves dove dark chocolates, her morning coffee, and a Pepsi every afternoon. We have someone who deep cleans every two weeks and family members who assist. We need someone to help just a couple of hours mid morning or afternoons 2-3 days a week right now. More assistance may be needed as her condition changes. About the care needs: An ideal caregiver would be someone who is confident, caring, calming, and has a lot of patience. They need to be able to possibly assist her when going from her chair in the living room to the bedroom or bathroom. She currently can walk without assistance using a walker, we expect that could change. My Mom likes structure and for her schedule to go as planned. It would be best for the caregiver to come at the time scheduled, however we can be flexible. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
