Hands-on Care Needed For My Father In Greenwood

About who needs care: Father (81) has acute kidney disease (Stage 4-5). He has been on overnight dialysis for several months, and has managed that very well. Despite some physical therapy, he is having difficulty walking, even with cane/walker. Dad loves to watch sports on TV (especially IU), reads the newspaper every day, and is extremely proud of his grandsons. Mother (78) is obese and diabetic - due to caring for my dad, she will go without eating and this affects her blood sugar. Mom has never met someone she couldn't talk to for hours if they have the time to listen. She is also very proud of her grandsons, and Both have been avid gardeners and still try to get outside to enjoy their flowers, but are having a harder time managing. My brother and I are looking for someone that can come in on a Monday morning and tidy up a little, while helping our folks to organize their medications and calendar for the week. We would like someone who can check vitals (blood pressure, blood sugar) and understands this age and all of the changes that our folks are dealing with. A follow-up visit on Thursday to do basically the same thing would be appreciated. (Hours per day can be determined once you start.) I am local, but still work full-time as a teacher. My goal every week is to visit 2-3 times in person and check on them a couple of times via phone calls. My brother lives in South Carolina and checks on them via FaceTime just about every day. The right person will be more than willing to sit out in the sun room and chat (and hear the same stories over and over.) Would prefer someone that can take blood pressure reading and help our mom with her blood sugar checks. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, and mobility assistance.
