About who needs care: The care is for my 56-year-old son, who has cerebral palsy and is nonverbal. His wife left him in February and they are in the divorce process. Steve is intelligent, college educated and has a great sense of humor, He is in a wheelchair 24/7 and has only very limited use of his right hand. His day is basically spent alone on the computer. He is well-read in Christianity and enjoys experimenting with AI. It would be great if the caretaker could also prepare a hot meal for Steve a few times a week, in addition to general cleaning, as my daughter and I do not live close. About the care needs: It would not matter if the caretaker was male or female, but should be caring, patient and not pushy. Steve definitely knows what he likes, he just cannot do things for himself. It would be nice if his caretaker would also do some hand exercises with him, as he has lost use of several fingers; he has diagrams of what to do, but they often require two people. Steve uses an iPad to communicate, but it is a very labored process given his loss. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
