About who needs care: He is on a heart pump, being sent home from rehab and needs assistance while recovering at home. Needs assistance getting up and currently is using a walker. He just had a toe amputated due to diabetes & pediatrist not taking proper care of his foot. He likes to surf the web and talk, play simple games. Gets up at 7:30-9 am, disconnects from wall unit to batteries, cleans up for the day, sits down for breakfast & takes medication with breakfast. After breakfast sits in his chair watching tv and surfing the web, texting friends & maybe phone calls. Around 11:30 he eats lunch. He may take a nap between breakfast & lunch and lunch & dinner. Then he watches TV - when he is able I allow him to do the dishes as it gives him a purpose. Currently due to inadequate PT/OT at the rehab facility he is not able to do this. I would request that he get up and down to walk more frequently than he was allowed to in the nursing home. I think if this care went well, within a couple weeks to a month he should be able to transfer to his walking cane and be able to be on his own again. Thank you.
