About the job
About who needs care: Dad has the beginning of dementia and needs help with reminders to do things, like clean the cat box, take out the garbage, etc. He has a cat. He can still physically do things himself, but reminders would help, and I can only get out to his house 2-3 times a week. He needs help with getting laundry done, changing his sheets on a regular basis. Again, he can do these things, he just needs assistance. I pay his bills, so no financial help is required. He does wear Depends now, and needs reminders to throw away the pants. He still drives minimally, but I would love help with driving to errands like the grocery store and drug store, perhaps a medical appointment. I take him to his doctor appointments, but might need occasional help on this. He goes out to lunch and dinner at a local pub. Perhaps help with rides to and from the pub. Or maybe even make lunch for him sometimes. Dad loves horses and cats!! He is a very sweet man. About the care needs: I am looking for a kind, patient, trustworthy person who understands how to work with and speak with people with dementia. Dad will ask the same questions, needs reminders etc, and I need someone with patience. He will lose things, ie his keys, so I need someone who can remind him to put things in a certain place, not lose patience. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, and light housekeeping.
