About who needs care: Grandfather has difficulty walking, may need to end up in a wheelchair soon. Had surgery for his knee recently, UTI which has caused discomfort due to him going back and forth to the bathroom. Has difficulty getting off the downstairs toilet, has fallen multiple times and his back is bruised because of it. He just retired from being a doctor in Chicago area so he is well-read, peaceful, kind, respectful, does not like asking help/favors from others at all. Has always been an independent man, so this is difficult for him. Not everyone in his family is as kind as him. He is honestly a gem and should be treasured. He really just needs assistance getting up/down sometimes, transporting as needed, and using the toilet, tasks like making his tea/coffee and getting his food into a plate. He is a religious, God-fearing man so structures his day around his prayers. He enjoys watching films and reading literature. I always remember while he was working his day would be structured around work. So black coffee every morning. Tea in the evenings. He loves sweets but has to control his blood sugar. Enjoys home cooked Indian food. About the care needs: Someone kind, open-minded, understanding of different cultures, comfortable with being a Muslim household, male. Preferable if he speaks Urdu and English. Physical strength and kindness - to assist with getting him on/off toilet without making him feel discomfort. He is a great storyteller with people he is comfortable with Someone caring but not pitiful - I noticed recently that he has begun to lose his memory. I think these changes in his health have put a mental burden on him. He picks up on others pity and being a burden on him very quickly. He also does not ask for much. Services needed include: transportation, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
