About who needs care: Father has Parkinson's. His primary caregiver is my mother, who is struggling to provide all of the support needed. He has been able to get around the house, but recently his mobility has gotten more difficult. He could use help getting around, pill reminders, hearing aid reminders, drinking water reminders, showering, taking blood pressure, spending some social time. He will be coming home from the hospital soon and may have a catheter, so it is possible that help would be needed with that. If the caregiver can help with a few basic household chores like meal prep, clothes washing, etc that would be great. Daytime hours would be most helpful, partial or full days at least 2 weekdays every week. A typical day could look like breakfast, short walk with a walker, online course, lunch, nap, reading, evening TV, dinner. Socializing when possible! About the care needs: My father enjoys science, math, chess, birds and a lot of other things. He enjoys a bit of talking, reading, watching tv, and taking online courses. So someone that enjoys a bit of talking about these subjects, or just about life in general, books you are reading, would be nice. He has fun stories, but can struggle with finding the right words at times. He was a former math teacher, soccer coach, sailor, and loves to learn. Always calm, he is easy to be with. The skills that might be needed: comfort helping with mobility, especially getting in and out of chairs and assisting with dressing. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
