About who needs care: This is for both parents. Ages are 93 & almost 91. My dad can't drive anymore, so a caregiver will have to drive them to the stores and doctors appointments. My mom never drove. She relied on my dad for everything. My dad has declined greatly this year. He talks continuously and mostly about the war. My mom is much more lucid. Her hearing is starting to go. They both have taken care of the house, but now it's very hard for them. My mom does all the inside, & he did the outside. She has painful back problems. He has had several falls in the past few months. Balancing issues. She needs help with shopping, loading & unloading, laundry (bending in & out)r folding & getting it put away. She needs a lot of help with vacuuming & dusting, washing the tile floors. My dad needs some help to get dressed and brushing his teeth. He needs to go to a salon to get pedicures. His nails are very bad & lately his feet are swollen. About the care needs: We need a person who is also a talker. Someone who can assist with their problems. My mom likes to cook herself, but she doesn't mind a little help (like chopping) and someone to set the table. She needs someone who likes to clean and take some of the burden off of her. My dad reads, or watches tv... anything about WWII. They were children of the war. If you had a person who speaks German, that would be great. The person should like being outside & going for walks. My dad needs to walk. My mom & dad don't do hobbies anymore. Arthritis in the hands makes them hard. My dad used to like playing the organ, but he hasn't for a few months. My mom was a crafter.
