About who needs care: I teach recreational ballroom, all forms of country dancing, retro dancing and folk dancing. I am an embroidery consultant and artist. I love to laugh and enjoy making other people laugh. I enjoying my water cold, really cold, just a degree or two above freezing. I do watercolor and acrylic painting. I do choreography for all of my dance mediums. I write poetry and short stories for my grandchildren. I've written two books, a cookbook called the Spiceberry and a book on the origins of play which provides the instructions for all games played from the 1800s up to today. I love cooking. I ice and rollerskate. I find being around people very inspiring and motivating. About the care needs: Someone who likes conversation, assisting me to keep my apartment and clean without judging me from my disability. I don't look disabled so it may be hard for them to understand my inability to keep up with house cleaning. I lost 57% of my peripheral vision caused by Covid. I lost my mother and my father and my sister and a lifelong friend in the span of nine weeks. Depression is sometimes an issue for me. I get frustrated not being able to do all of the things I enjoy. I have hypothyroid, diabetes, sjogren's disease and Limited mobility because of my blindness. I do have a walking Kane that helps me navigate unfamiliar territory. I have a Papillon terrier named Petula, she's 4 years old. I just want to feel like I'm living life not just existing in it. I think if I could get my place in order my world would be much better. I moved into my apartment two months ago and because of my visual limitations I've had difficulty unpacking the boxes. I just need someone who is caring and supportive and will enjoy being with me.
