About who needs care: He has vascular dementia with brain atrophy. He is healthy and can get around himself, feed himself, etc., although his connectiveness is gone. Likes to snack a lot in the afternoon. You can ask him to do things, but only one at a time. He paces A LOT, will sit down then 2 seconds later, stand up and walk to window, then walk outside to mailbox, back and forth. Sometimes he will sit for a few hours to watch football or basketball or maybe a kid show. Usually, by afternoon he wants to go to the store. We live near Foodland. He used to love to read and no longer wants to anymore, assuming its because I think he can't understand what he is reading after 2 sentences. He is bored but can't get him to get interested in anything. He gets easily agitated around lots of people. About the care needs: Nice personality and pleasant is a good fit. My husband is a retired optician so he is very sociable around people. He may ask the same thing over and over though. Tried taking him to a daycare, but he kept trying to leave saying "I just need to go meet my wife". I still work 3-4 days a week. My daughter-in-law is home all day now, but they have 4 children and 2 stay at home with her, 1 and 3-year-old the other 2 are 5 and 8 and they are in school, so a few times my husband has walked out the door and forgotten to shut it and the 1-year-old followed him outside and he doesn't realize that she is a baby. Reason why I need someone else to be there to just keep my husband company if my daughter-in-law needs to leave, etc. Services needed include: companionship.
