About who needs care: My Dad. Glynn, a 94-year-old veteran of the U. S. Air Force, is in need of temporary at-home healthcare services following a minor stroke that has left him with slight memory loss and weakened physical strength. Despite these challenges, he remains sharp and aware of his surroundings, and he continues to show a strong spirit and improvement. Before his stroke, he was actively involved in managing the backend of a family business and fully capable of handling all his obligations. He has stage 4 kidney disease, which requires regular blood infusions every Tuesday. For the next few weeks or months, he will need transportation and supervision to ensure his recovery. His primary needs include assistance with administering medication and support with walking up and down stairs for meals while at home. He may also require help with running occasional errands. Although my mom and sister live with him, they both work full-time jobs and are seeking additional support to care for him during the day. He has a large, loving family who deeply cares for him, and the person chosen to assist him should possess excellent patience and empathy, ensuring he feels comfortable and supported during this recovery period. About the care needs: Ability to administer medication. Patience and empathy. My dad is very independent and slightly wrestling with the fact that he needs aid to do things right now. He has a big heart and is very intelligent so someone who can keep him mentally stimulated will go a long ways. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and mobility assistance.
