About who needs care: 77-year-old woman with Alzheimer's, roughly stage 6. Needs help with all tasks-- toileting, bathing, and keeping company so that she doesn't wander. She wears a pull up in case of accidents but if you walk her to the toilet and show her where to do her business she can use the bathroom, but needs assistance wiping and washing hands. My 77-year-old grandfather is very sharp but has COPD and has begun struggling to help her with necessary tasks. Myself and other family members alternate coming to help during the day and need additional help to fill the gaps. Occasional cooking/warming up food would be helpful also. She no longer maintains any hobbies, but loves children, some conversation, and watched TV some (Andy Griffith, I Love Lucy, and game shows). My grandfather would be present in the home most of the time aside from when he runs errands. Nana can mostly still feed herself with occasional reminders like "try eating that with your spoon". She has a good disposition most of the time and when she gets grumpy or overwhelmed will usually just close her eyes and sit on the couch. She would structure her ideal day as sitting in her spot on the couch with her great grandchildren visiting.
About the care needs: A bubbly, personable woman who can alternate between conversation and periods of sitting in silence watching a game show would be ideal. She should be warm and patient. Must be very watchful, because if Nana is left alone she may wander around the house and get into things. No specific hobbies or interests required.
