About who needs care: My mother has been living in an assisted living facility as of January 27th, 2025. She is 70 and was recently diagnosed with epilepsy and moderate cognitive impairment after experiencing several falls with serious head trauma. The most severe fall was on Dec 24th, 2024 -- she was admitted to ICU discharged to hospital before moving into facility. Her deficits are both physical and cognitive (judgement, memory, decision-making) and we are working to regain functioning through therapy (PT/OT/SPT). We've had caregivers from The Key stay with her (24 hrs - 12 hr shifts) as she greatly benefits from around the clock supervision. Looking forward, we hope to hire a caregiver for consistency and connection. We are looking for someone who is compassionate, patient, and encouraging to keep her company and promote her involvement in activities throughout the community, help her stay organized, and ensure she is safe while ambulating and performing daily functional tasks. She occasionally needs assistance using the restroom, getting dressed, and bathing so someone with experience performing similar tasks and can be an encouraging voice as she relearns these tasks is greatly appreciated. She was previously a high-performing executive and spent many years leading both for- and not-for-profit organizations. Incredibly smart and motivated, she thrives with structure, variety and active engagement. About the care needs: Organized, kind/sensitive, patient, engages in conversation, personable, familiar with cognitive decline and deficits. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
