About who needs care: My mother recently had knee replacement surgery. She has moderate dementia. She will need help making sure she does her exercises every day and initially might need some help with some things around her apartment (laundry, organizing). My hope is to find a companion for her who will continue to spend some time with her each week after she recovers from her surgery. About the care needs: Someone who is upbeat, and has a good sense of humor would be a great fit for my mother. It will be very important that she is treated with dignity. She knows she has a memory disorder, but is also still very aware and prideful (but very willing to laugh at herself). Special skills required are patience and compassion. Services needed include: transportation, companionship, and mobility assistance.
