About who needs care: Mom gets around with a walker for short distances. Going to the grocery store, she would need to use the scooter. She loves puzzles on her tablet and is an avid reader, if large print. Mom is shy to go to social gatherings because she is very hard of hearing, despite having hearing aids. She has constant pain from arthritis. She has other health problems that are being held under control by her doctors. Mostly, she needs help with cooking, laundry, etc. in order to stay independent. About the care needs: A caregiver that mom can trust is number one. She has to click with that person. This would be someone who is patient and loves to listen to mom's many stories. She would need to be okay with doing things (cooking, laundry, etc.) mom's way. Mom is getting weaker and so visits to the beauty shop are not as frequent, so being able to help her wash her hair, curl on rollers, and sit her under the hair dryer is a little extra for mom. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
